Your vents, Monday, Nov. 5

  • Suddenlink, save money on your commercials and put it into your equipment. I lost cable service five hours before the storm hit. I hope all went well, but I wouldn't know.

  • If Obama thinks all this attention he has shown because of the hurricane will get him re-elected, he is badly mistaken.
  • The home of the television show "Jersey Shore" is gone, destroyed. Seaside Heights is a scene of devastation.
  • Is General Motors going to move auto-making jobs overseas as Ryan's email says or is that another lie to scare union autoworkers?
  • Don't you think the Benghazi attack is being investigated by all of the strength we have? Part of that includes holding some information back so you can complete the investigation while people keep pounding for more information.
  • I couldn't be more of a Herd fan and that is the truth. But Doc, don't put the fans through that again.
  • I'm so disappointed in Humana and CAMC. What do they want people on Humana to do, roll over and die?
  • I find it impossible to support, vote for or even respect anyone that would try and speak of the sanctity of life when trying to save a convicted criminal from a legitimately imposed death sentence and then turn around and support the killing of a truly innocent, unborn child.
  • President Obama did not give money to open up Gestamp. The state of West Virginia hocked our state to get Gestamp open. You'll see how long they'll be here.
  • CAMC shows how much of a bully they are. If they can't have everything their way then they don't want to play. They must be afraid of competition.
  • When Joe Manchin finishes "ear-marked pork 101" class, he'll be a professional crook like Robert Byrd and have his name scattered all over almost-heaven West Virginia.
  • To all of the Romney-Ryan supporters who are still paying for a home loan: Have you missed the part of their plan about doing away with your home mortgage deduction on your income tax? For me, that would be a stiff tax hike. And at the same time, they want to give a tax break to the richest 2 percent of Americans. That is all part of their so-called deficit reduction plan.
  • President Obama is certainly my choice for president again. The thoughts of Romney and Ryan sicken me. All that Romney did in the debates was to interrupt and try to bully the president the whole time. He is used to getting his way.
  • I never lose Frontier telephone service in Kanawha City but when there is a puff of wind I lose Suddenlink cable. Maybe they need repair people like Frontier who fix it properly instead of jury rigging it.
  • I haven't made a decision on whether I will go to Thomas Hospital or St. Francis Hospital, but I can tell you one thing. I will never go to any facility that incorporates CAMC.
  • If Gary Ray and his has-been crew at the SSAC knew the rules, the player student from Elkins would have never been ruled ineligible. They don't have a clue.
  • To the person who said Sallie Robinson had worked under Phyllis Gatson and she could run the agency better than someone who was self-employed: Are you saying she is superior to people who are making a living by being self-employed?
  • Having the electric go off every two or three minutes because there is a dusting of snow on the lines in the Cabin Creek area is definitely not good service. Appalachian Power has let the CEO bleed them dry. What happened to the time when the power remained on during a snow or rainstorm?
  • Attention, seniors: There is no candidate - repeat, no candidate - who wants to cut Medicare or Social Security benefits. Several candidates (of both parties) have reminded us that Medicare needs to be updated, but that will affect only folks under 55. Don't believe lies.
  • Right-wing nuts keep harping about Obama going against the Constitution. Where were they when George W. Bush and the Congress passed the Patriot Act, which robs us of more of our rights than any other law or presidential order in history?
  • A vote for Sen. Manchin is a vote to keep Harry Reid in charge of the Senate.
  • The right to vote is like the right to free speech in that you are welcome to exercise both, but are not immune from consequences. If you vote a candidate into office to spite your employer, then be prepared to live with the result.
  • How in the world can a responsible West Virginian read the headlines about businesses closing and the loss of our jobs in coal and vote for Barack Obama? Please think how the current administration has hurt our state.
  • The words and attitude of so many parents in the George Washington school district is truly repulsive. Do you really think you are benefiting your children by teaching them that they are superior to anyone who doesn't live where they do?
  • I'm tired of hearing how good it was when Clinton was president. Yes, he was a pretty good leader, but the dot.com boom was the reason the economy was so good. It had nothing to do with his policies.
  • Please consider your vote for agriculture commissioner and vote for an individual who actually knows what farming and raising your food supply is all about. Being able to put water in a bottle is not farming.
  • It's not that Obama supporters believe everything he says, it's that they don't believe anything Romney says.
  • If George W. Bush deserved a second term, there should be no doubt in anyone's mind that Barack Obama deserves a second term.
  • Mitt Romney will create thousands of new jobs but they'll all be overseas. He has done it before and he will do it again. Look at the record and look at the facts.
  • My prayers go out to all of the people in New Jersey and New York and all along the shore. I think Gov. Christie is doing a great job. He is right out there and he says it the way it is. I think Obama is doing a great job and especially the National Guard.
  • I'm a Democrat who is going to vote for Allen Loughry because I love justice.
  • Romney was wrong again when he wanted to disband FEMA. Other than when he lies he is wrong about everything. Do you think Gov. Christie wants to disband FEMA?
  • Why do they make decisions about closing school in Kanawha County at the last minute? They had enough information the night before to make a logical decision. They put the safety of employees in danger to travel on unsafe roads just to make them turn around and go home again.
  • Here in the U.S., the leaders are elected by the majority and the majority rules. Why can one atheist shut down prayer in schools? Something is wrong with this system.
  • I find it disgusting that the Obama administration has nothing to run on and they have the vilest ads on television. If he is re-elected America will go down the tubes.
  • Why didn't our president respond to the needs in Benghazi when they asked several times for help?
  • Let me remind you that out of Romney's 24 advisers, 17 worked for Bush. Enough said.
  • The snow scenes by Tom Hindman in the Daily Mail were absolutely, positively gorgeous.
