Your Vents, Friday, March 8

* Let's get an accounting for all of the foreign aid we give to other countries. If U.S. citizens got to vote on it, 90 percent would say "no." We need to pay our own bills first before giving it away to countries that hate us.

* Do you find it interesting that administrators want the flexibility to hire the so-called best teachers? It smells of nepotism and favoritism to me.

* Washington's broken and the government is fractured. There is no uniting for the common good. There is a Biblical principle we would do well to heed. Nearness to God brings blessing. When we are far from God, nothing will go well.

* Does Riverside High School have a dress code for teachers? They should dress for respect.

* "There are none so blind as those who will not see," Matthew Henry. (1662-1714) This fits Obama lovers to a T.

* Charleston City Council should read Joseph P. Fisher's letter to the editor concerning the one-mile bike path for $2 million. Most fiscally responsible people are in agreement.

* We've got too many turncoats in the state. For the turncoat Democrat who defended George Bush, I'm surprised he can even find his way home.

* Thank you to the Elkview area DOH for removing a large boulder from Poca Fork Road within one hour of my calling in the problem.

* It is evident that there was a lot of voter fraud back in November. I hope they are prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

* The West Virginia Legislature needs to man up and fund the public library. The Board of Education shouldn't be doing it, the Kanawha County Commission shouldn't, and neither should the city. The state should do it.

* We had a South Charleston High School graduate make second team all conference from WVU Tech and none of the papers mentioned it. The coverage for Tech around here is pitiful.

* For the school board: I've never had a child in West Virginia schools, but I've voted for school levies. I'll never ever vote for another school levy in my lifetime and hopefully others will do the same. I do use the library.

* I just got through reading an article about the education reform in West Virginia. The unions quoted say the bill fails to show the new proposals will work. We know it certainly is necessary because the status quo will not survive.

* Every woman in our large church choir has had cancer of some sort and the West Virginia DEP wants to allow more chemicals in our lakes and streams so out-of-state coal barons can get richer without considering those who live here. Just think about it.

* The guy who says WVU and Marshall would both enjoy successful sports seasons if they went to a lower conference proves that he has never played sports. If you want to have success, you play the best.

* On Feb. 28 someone turned my cellphone in at the Wal-Mart on Corridor G and I would really like to thank them. I really appreciate the person who did that. Thank you very much.
