Your vents, Tuesday, April 16

  • There will always be a reason the Legislature will find to keep the turnpike tolls.

  • I see GW's inspired athletic recruiting again. They are doing it with the school board's blessing. It is a shame that they can hand-pick the brightest students and the best athletes and tell the rest of them they can't come to GW because they would lower the standards. The board should be very ashamed of themselves.
  • We need a new television cable company in this area. I'm sick of seeing the phrase, "We appreciate your patience, this channel will be back on shortly." There isn't a single day when some channel isn't out. Today, they are all out.
  • To the people who asked to take Jesus' picture out of school, don't you realize it says on our money "In God We Trust"? What is wrong with these people? Something is wrong with this.
  • You know, the Supreme Court ruled that businesses are people, but their influence on politicians and issues is far greater than the average American voter who gets only one vote. Money has always had a greater voice and more power than the people. You don't need to read the Constitution to know that.
  • Hmm. Somebody posted there was no reason to compare guns to knives. I wonder if they read the newspaper.
  • Now we have a mass stabbing in Texas where a student stabbed 14 other students, and two are in critical condition. Are we going to ban knives next in this country? What about background checks for people who purchase knives? All this debate about gun control is ridiculous. If someone wants to inflict damage to others, they will find a way and a means.
  • The money the State Fire Marshal's office wastes is unreal. That should be checked into.
  • I see the Kanawha County Board of Education gave George Washington High School the right to have students from other districts the OK to go to school there, saying it was a premier school. In reality it was to allow them to recruit football players like they have done before.
  • Why don't they just replace the stars on the U.S. flag with little bull's eyes? I pledge allegiance to the guns of the conservative states of insanity - one nation under siege, absolutely divisible, with liberty and justice for sale.
  • What do they think changing school schedules will do for tourism? It will affect campgrounds, and everyone at a business won't be able to take vacations the same week school is out of session, so there goes money for the state.
  • Joe Manchin is officially now just an Obama flunky, another liberal Democrat.
  • To the caller who said that free breakfasts and lunches will just give the parents more drug money, well, most were on food stamps anyway so we were already paying for the food.
  • Where are the Friends of Coal to help the miners not lose their pensions and retirement benefits?
  • It isn't the fault of workers they are losing jobs. Business college graduates who have taken over businesses and encouraged higher and higher returns for their stockholders have squeezed them out. Greed isn't good for people.
  • Some Republicans object to doing something about people driving with illegal drugs because it is a violation of privacy. Well, if you wear a seat belt or not is also private.
  • The only thing an invisible fence does is to keep your pet in by shocking it. It doesn't keep your pet safe from other animals coming into your yard and attacking it.
  • I just wanted to let everyone know that if you live on any of the streets in the 5000 to 6000 block area of Kanawha City, some guy is picking up your aluminum cans before the city gets there. This includes Washington, Lancaster, Venable and MacCorkle avenues.
  • Obama's message on the budget is on five stinking channels, and he says we have to get smarter. He wants to take more than $400 billion away from Medicare in the next 10 years. And there is another tax hike supposedly for the rich. They need to check on fraud everywhere.
  • I'm trying to figure out why taxpayers are paying $56,500 in legal fees for Jeff Hutchinson. We didn't break the law, and he needs to pay that money back.
  • Ashley Judd is a spoiled brat. The infamous Judds have had so many problems down through the years. She believes Obama, and it is sickening. She is like the rest of the idiots who re-elected him.
  • Paul Ryan's budget is still the best one out there. It balances the budget in 10 years.
  • I saw where Nitro was playing a baseball game and they wore the ugliest shirts I've ever seen. I know it is just my opinion, but thank God they didn't have those 50 years ago.
  • This seat belt law is the final straw. As quickly as I can divest myself of all of my property, I'm moving to Texas.
  • Mark Plants needs to get out of the house more and stop sitting in front of Fox News.
  • Would it be accurate to ask if it is President Obama's fault that North Korea doesn't like us?
  • If the country wants to ban stable, law-abiding citizens from owning guns and magazines with more than 10 rounds, but they give all that fire power to the crazy new leaders of Egypt, then I say we live in a country founded by geniuses but run by idiots.
  • I don't believe the power company deserves any more raises. They need to take the money they have now and trim the trees off lines that have been there for years.
  • What is private property good for? You have social and physical freedom. Everyone needs resources. You can't put a couch on your front porch or building materials.
  • West Virginia is destroying itself with radical Republicanism. They call people who don't look like them "the other." They say no rights for all Americans, just for me. They say give guns to mothers so they can get in fights over their children and get killed. No tax incentives for clean energy, just for oil and gas. They are paranoid like Glenn Beck.
  • In the homes of the talented athletes in Kanawha County, the phones start ringing continuously because GW has started recruiting again, thanks to our dumb school board.
  • Where does it say in the Bible that you can't have musical instruments in your church?
  • Marshall University now owns Conference USA since all the big teams have left.
  • Bless the person responsible for seeing that my lost keys at the Riverwalk Kroger were returned to me.
