Your vents, Monday, Oct. 7

  • The caller who talked about Jane Fonda and the Vietnam War doesn't have any feelings for what she did to cause the American prisoners to be cruelly hurt. She was a traitor to our country and no I'm not a Vietnam veteran.

  • Maybe we will discover that doing the multiplication tables will improve students' math scores. When will the egg-headed educators learn the old days of teaching and school discipline are better than what they are doing today? Duh.
  •

  • Holgorsen and others keep saying after a lost game that it is all his fault and he needs to do better. Well, why don't they do better? I'd like to make that kind of money, keep doing the same wrong things and still keep my job. I wouldn't last long and I hope the same thing applies to the overpaid coaches we have.
  •

  • There is an organization in the Washington, D.C. area called The Judicial Watch. It is constantly fighting to have the laws enforced in the right manner. Citizens need to back up that organization. It stresses doing the right thing.
  •

  • There has been a lot of talk about the timber that was cut out at Coonskin Park. How much money did FEMA get from that to do that job? What happened to that money?
  •

  • My wife thinks I'm crazy but I think the scholarship football colleges like WVU should have the NCAA initiate a form of profit sharing similar to the NFL. The proceeds would provide disability insurance to every college football player. It would also provide an annuity for the players who graduate.
  •

  • The Kanawha County School board doesn't exist to hand feed George Washington High School. Each student in the county deserves a quality education. That's what WESTEST is about.
  •

  • It's too bad that Fox News didn't cover Clinton and Obama explaining Obamacare. Do you think they were afraid their viewers would realize the lies they've been told?
  •

  • To the person complaining about getting free trash bags but no ties: Use some common sense and put some duct tape on it. We live up Campbells Creek and we don't get any freebies like everyone else in Charleston does.
  •

  • WVU should clean house from Oliver Luck down to the water boy-turned-coach Holgorsen.
  •

  • I would love less news coverage of President Obama, Juan Williams and Kirsten Powers. They get too much coverage.
  •

  • Manchin should stop lollygagging around all of the other politicians and do something for West Virginia. He keeps his nose up there with the mayor of New York.
  •

  • Why does West Virginia American Water need another rate increase? All they do is hang around the office or McDonalds.
  •

  • A Vent Line caller recently said to get out of the Old Testament. Hey, the Old Testament goes right on along with the New Testament. If you don't believe one portion of it you don't believe any of it.
  •

  • Oh, now the White House is announcing $300 million aid for bankrupt Detroit as a bailout. See it is happening all over again. It is dangerous to keep bailing everything out.
  •

  • Kudos to the wonderful staff at St. Francis One Day Surgery Center. I had surgery on Sept. 16. They are an awesome, warm and caring bunch of people. Also thanks to Dr. Bowman and Dr. Archie Snedegar.
  •

  • Mr. Reid is not a good American. He should be ashamed of himself. He only works for the good of himself and the good of his party.
  •

  • This is in answer to whether you are allowed to bury your own dead. Yes you can as long as it is on your own property. It has to be six feet deep and 50 feet away from water.
  •

  • I would like to thank the man and woman who helped me get my red Ford truck out of a hole in Kanawha State Forest on Friday, Sept. 27. Thank you and it is good to know there are still good people out there.
  •

  • To the caller who said to thank Maryland: You can just get out of West Virginia. We do not need you.
  •

  • To the caller who said they were a retired state police officer and strongly opposed legalizing marijuana because it leads to more crime. No it doesn't. I'm a 55-year-old female who has smoked pot every day since I was 14 years old and I've never had a speeding or a parking ticket.
  •

  • To the person against dogs in swimming pools: not all dogs have four legs and hair.
  •

  • Why is it people are labeled a racist when they say they don't trust Obama. I don't trust him because every word from his mouth is a lie and I didn't trust Bush either. They are both criminals.
  •

  • Union people are trained better, more cooperative and easier to work with and better quality work. Unions don't put up with their workers not doing a good job because then they aren't able to find jobs for them.
  •

  • As a regular reader of the Vent Line I'm regularly reminded of this quote from Ronald Reagan, "The trouble with our liberal friends is not that they're ignorant; it's just that they know so much that isn't so."
  •

  • To the people who live on Craigmore Road and let their dog bark continuously at 3 a.m., I'm about ready to call the police.
  •

  • While shopping at Wal-Mart at Southridge on Thursday, Sept. 26, I became dizzy and fell. A very kind customer service manager named Anna and a lady customer I didn't get the name of helped me up. I appreciate their kindness. Thank you very much.
  •

  • The work of Mr. Gianato and Mr. Gonzalez couldn't pass a state audit in regard to the tire project. The mismanagement of millions of tax dollars should result in criminal charges for these two people and not merely a rebuke.
  •

  • Anyone who doesn't use their car's headlights when it is dark and rainy is just plain stupid. I thought there was a law against this but apparently the police won't bother with them.
  •

  • I'm going to prove that I have a brain and I'm an honest person who doesn't cause trouble for other people.
  •

  • We have had gun control for almost 50 years and violence is on the downtrend. You are less likely to be murdered now than you were then. I believe some of the folks clamoring for more gun control want gun abolition and gun confiscation. I feel they want to have a gun-free America.
  •

  • Prejudice is a very evil thing that destroys people's lives emotionally and physically, financially and every other way.
  •

  • If you are really concerned about barking dogs why don't you get earplugs? That is what dogs do, they bark.
  •

  • I'm sick and tired of pulling off the stick-on ads on the front page of the newspaper. It also pulls some of the reading material off. Please put the sticker on the very top of the front page but not on reading materials or on pictures. I buy the paper to read it and see the pictures.
  •

  • Some men don't like assertive women, but yet you have to go out in the world and be that person.  More women have to support themselves and their kids. Women need those good high-paying jobs too in order to take care of their families.
  •

  • Due to the government shutdown no more vacations for the Obamas until they get out of office.
  •

  • Good manners used to be a requirement back in the days of Emily Post. Now it isn't practiced anywhere. Manners don't know a socioeconomic class.
  •

  • I happen to vote Republican because they still believe in restoring America and not destroying it. That doesn't make me a racist.
