n The GOP's side of negotiating a budget was to make cuts in several programs. Obama's plan was to spend more money we don't have and put us farther in debt. What part of this confuses you?
n Glad to see Congressman Rahall at the press conference the other day. He had a great opportunity for a picture, didn't have to do a thing and was in the way of the people that actually needed to answer questions. Some things never change.
n That West Virginia American Water would fill the tankers with tainted water shows that they don't give a damn for our health. They're only concerned with getting our money.
n As the pope pointed out, we live in a disposable society. Unfortunately, he expanded this thought to unwanted pregnancies. But remember who it is that forbids birth control. The church's opposition to birth control certainly has the effect of increasing unwanted pregnancies and therefore abortions. If common sense were really common, then such wrongheaded thinking wouldn't be so common.
n It is amazing the number of conservatives who want war as long as they are not the ones doing the actual fighting — that's why they're called "chicken hawks."
n Since the water crisis, the silence of the coal company hacks, the Friends of Coal, and the EPA and Obama haters has been deafening. Once again, big government helps us in spite of ourselves.
n Before all of the liberals start pointing fingers at Republicans concerning the chemical spill, let me remind them that Democrats have controlled this state and nearly every office and every department for over 80 years and President Obama's burgeoning EPA has had six years to inspect every plant, tank, river and everything else, and they have failed all of us at every level.
n I think all of the local restaurants should be required to make their iced tea and lemonade with bottled water, at least for now.
n When will the laws be changed to limit Congress and Senate terms to eight years as it should be? Also, they don't deserve lifetime benefits. America is getting ripped off and not getting the true service we should be.
n Thanks, Daily Mail, for the new look of the obituaries and whoever came up with it. They are easier to read and they look very nice.
n I wish there would be a hot dog stand up in Kanawha City instead of all of the Mexican and Chinese restaurants.
n Why does everyone wait until after a disaster to do everything that should have been done all along?
n Could someone take a water sample from the Pinch sewer plant that empties water back into the Elk River? This is six miles upriver from the W.Va. American Water plant.
