Prep soccer roundup: Bonecutter, Foust lead Point Pleasant past Hoover
CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- Ryan Bonecutter and Tommy Foust scored two goals apiece to lead the Big Blacks to a 5-0 home win over Herbert Hoover in boys high school soccer Thursday.
Steve Porter added a single goal for Point Pleasant (6-1-1), while Colin Peal added an assist.
For Hoover (3-11-1), goalkeeper Brett Strickland collected 15 saves.
In other boys action:
Sissonville 3, Ravenswood 3 - Mason Carte scored three goals to help Ravenswood salvage a tie against the Indians.
Anthony Rinehart netted a pair of goals for Sissonville, while Josh Rawson had a single goal. Rinehart, Rawson and Hunter White had assists for the Indians.
Nitro 1, Spring Valley 0 - Corey Tornes scored the lone goal as Nitro won a defensive battle at home.
Lee Clockey had 10 saves for the Wildcats and Jared Messer corralled six for Spring Valley.
Hurricane 6, Ripley 0 - Felipe Thompson had four goals for the Redskins (13-0-0) before the game was called for weather conditions against the Vikings (2-13-0).
Alex White and Trevor Cunningham also had goals for Hurricane.
George Washington 7, Shady Spring 0 - Garrett Warner and Noah Phillips led the Patriots (12-3-1) with two goals apiece.
Garrett Philips had two saves and collected his 11th shut out.
In girls action:
Herbert Hoover 6, Shady Spring 2 - Cassie Hammes scored five goals to lead the Huskies (10-4-1) at home.
Morgan Neeley added a single goal for Hoover, while Hannah Schoolcraft added assists.
For Shady Spring, Lyndsey Thompson scored both goals.
Sissonville 6, Midland Trail 0 - Lydia Murray and Madison Jones scored two goals and had two assists apiece to lead the Indians (15-2-0) at home against the Patriots (7-4-2).
Cassidy Lewis and Mary Schmeck also had goals for Sissonville.
