But Memphis couldn't overcome another 300-plus-yard passing day from Cato. Even though preseason all-conference receiver Aaron Dobson was hurt on the game's first play, Cato threw for 341 yards and four touchdowns on 34-of-44 passing. It was his eighth game of the season with 300 or more passing yards. Karam threw for 170 yards and a touchdown on 21-of-31 passing.

CATO JUMPED up a couple of Herd lists with his performance Saturday. The touchdown pass to Evans was the 40th of his career, which is seventh all time at Marshall. It was also his 26th of the season, which ties Michael Payton's 1991 season for ninth place in school history. Cato ended the game with 500 career completions, sixth-best all time in Marshall history.

WHEN KICKER Justin Haig gets his chances from beyond 40 yards, he hasn't disappointed. His 41-yarder in the first quarter was his third from 40 or beyond this season. He still hasn't missed from that distance, now three-for-three on the year. Haig is now eight of 11 on field goals this year.
