Boys basketball: Eades scores 22 points, No. 1 Bluefield drops No. 6 Scott
CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- Anthony Eades had 22 points to help lead Class AA top-ranked Bluefield (10-1) to a hard-fought 68-63 win at No. 6 Scott in boys high school basketball action Thursday night.
Tied at 46 after three quarters, the Beavers made 13-of-15 fourth-quarter free throws.
Lykel Collier added 14 points for Bluefield, followed by David Edwards with 13.
For Scott (10-5), Matt Dolan led the way with a game-high 28 points, while Anthony Sigmon contributed 16.
Capital 64, Parkersburg 60 - Carrington Morris netted 31 points and grabbed eight rebounds to lead the Cougars (7-9) on the road.
Tyrell Davis chipped in with 12 points for Capital.
For Parkersburg (5-10), Trevor Britton had 21 points and Ben Umpleby had 11 points.
George Washington 61, Ripley 54 - Luke Eddy had 26 points, seven rebounds and five assists to lead the Patriots (11-3) on the road.
Austin Breeden added 11 points for GW.
For Ripley (5-10), Casey Smith scored 16 points.
Huntington 75, Nitro 43 - The Highlanders darted to a 20-8 first quarter lead and cruised to the easy road win.
Chancelor Wooding paced Huntington (10-3) with 18 points and Arick Nicks had 16.
For Nitro (7-7), Angelo Sirianni poured in 19 points.
In girls basketball action:
Buffalo 63, Poca 46 - Tiffani Bailey scored 21 points and Chelsey Parkins added 19 and 17 rebounds as Buffalo (10-4) corralled the Dots at home.
For Poca (4-12), Paula Ord dropped in 16 points and grabbed 20 rebounds.
