Prep basketball roundup: Sissonville girls top Poca

Sissonville used a 19-4 third quarter scoring advantage to break open close game en routed to a 56-38 win over Poca in girls high school basketball play Thursday.

Madison Jones led the Indians (14-5) with 12 points, while Brooke Reed contributed 10.

For Poca (4-15), McKenzie Ball scored 12 points, followed by Harley Hutchins with 11.

Buffalo 60, Teays Valley Christian 43 - Junior Chelsey Parkins passed the 1,000 career point plateau with a game-high 21 points in leading the Bison (14-4) at home.

Parkins now has 1,005 career points. Tiffani Bailey added 12 points for Buffalo.

For Teays Valley (8-11), Olivia Hill had 13 points, while Garry Harrah chipped in with 12.

Valley 71, Elk Valley Christian 65 - Abby Buchan netted 30 points and Alexis Payne added 27 to lead the Greyhounds (9-4) on the road.

For Elk Valley (12-8), Hannah Williams led the way with 21 points, followed by Katie Burdette's 15, Chelsea Burdette's 13 and McKenzie Young's 10.

Scott 41, Chapmanville 37 - Ali Whitman scored 13 points to lead the Skyhawks (11-7) at home.

For Chapmanville (9-9), Kristen Desrocher netted a game-high 21 points.

In boys action:

Preston 74, Capital 45 - The Knights jumped to a 36-15 halftime lead and cruised to the easy road win.

Ryan Meadows led Preston with 26 points, followed by Aaron Ferguson 12 and Kyle Caron with 11.

For Capital (7-13), Carrington Morris led all scorers with 27 points.
