Girls basketball: Harrison, Stewart, Ward lead GW to easy win over Riverside
CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- The George Washington girls basketball team was helped by a trio of double-digit scorers in an easy 88-51 win over Riverside in the Class AAA Region 3, Section 1 semifinals Wednesday.
Kelli Jo Harrison led GW (15-8) with 25 points and seven rebounds, while Kayla Stewart added 22 and Rachel Ward 21. Alanna Mobayed added 10 assists and eight steals for the Patriots, who will host Capital for the section title Friday night at 7 p.m.
For Riverside (7-18), Brittany Wood led the way with 21 points, while Lamontica Burger added 10.
Winfield 41, Point Pleasant 30 - Winfield jumped to an early 10-point lead and held on for the Class AAA Region 4, Section 1 win.
Haeley Moore led Winfield (12-11) with 15 points, while Haylea Roberson added 10.
For Point (7-17), Allison Smith led the way with eight points.
Winfield will host St. Albans at 7:30 p.m. Friday for the section title.
Scott 31, Chapmanville 28 - Andrea Rankin's 10 points led the Skyhawks (15-8) to the Class AA Region 4, Section 2 win.
Scott will play Tolsia for the section title at 7 p.m. Friday at Logan.
For Chapmanville (11-10), Jessica Rideout had nine points.
Ravenswood 62, Webster County 30 - The Red Devils (15-7) advanced to the Class AA Region 1, Section 2 title game with the easy home win.
Taylor Youell had 22 points, followed by Hailey Miller with 19 points and 10 rebounds for Ravenswood, which will play at Braxton County at 7 p.m. Friday in the sectional title game.
For Webster County (14-9), Brandi Clevenger netted 11 points, while Taylor Anderson collected 19 rebounds.
