Boys basketball: Harris, Redskins earn win
CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- Rasaan Harris scored 27 points, dished 11 assists and pulled down five rebounds to lead the Hurricane boys basketball team to a 78-61 win over Point Pleasant in Class AAA Region 4, Section 1 semifinal play Wednesday.
Henry Sorsaia added 14 points and 10 rebounds for the Redskins (18-5), while Ian Miles chipped in with 12 points.
For the Big Blacks (13-11), Aden Yates had 14 points, followed by Wade Martin with 12 and Adam Slack with 11.
Hurricane will host Nitro (11-12) at 7 p.m. Firday in the sectional championship.
Charleston Catholic 75, St. Joseph 36 - The Irish scored the first 26 points to win easily Class A Region 4, Section 2 semifinal home win.
Nick George led the Irish (20-3) with 22 points and eclipsed the 1,000-career point plateau in the second quarter. Garret McCarty added 13 points.
Catholic will face Buffalo at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Wahama in the sectional championship.
Buffalo 69, Wahama 58 - Levi Jordan connected on eight 3-pointers en route to 30-point performance in the Bison's Class A Region 4, Section 1 semifinal home win.
Laythen Good added 16 points for Buffalo (20-3), while Dylan Rich chipped in with 11.
For Wahama (10-13), Austin Jordan led the way with 21 points, followed by Trenton Gibbs with 17 and Wyatt Zuspan with 14.
