Prep softball roundup: Haynes tosses no-hitter, hits three-run homer to lift Indians
CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- Sissonville freshman pitcher Alexee Haynes pitched a no-hitter and drove in four runs, including a three-run home run to lead the Indians to a 10-0 three-inning win over Poca (3-9) in high school softball action Monday.
On the season, Haynes now has five home runs, tying her for the area lead with Linzie Reynolds and Amber Null of Hurricane.
Cabell Midland 8, Riverside 3 - The Warriors were tied entering the seventh inning, but the Knights were able to score five runs and fend off the upset bid on the road.
Morgan Kelley and Alyssa Koontz had three hits each for Cabell Midland, which spread out 17 hits on the night.
Cassady Schmidt had a pair of hits to lead Riverside (10-11).
Wayne 2, Chapmanville 1 - The Pioneers (12-4) got two runs in the first inning and held on against the Tigers at home, behind the strong pitching performance from Jessie Rowe.
