Marshall football: Additional charges filed against Jean-Louis

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – Two additional charges, one felony and one misdemeanor, have been filed against Marshall University 2013 football recruiting class member Angelo Jean-Louis, according to Cabell County Magistrate Court documents. The charges – a third felony charge of fraudulent use of an access device and a misdemeanor petit larceny charge – were filed April 10.

Jean-Louis, a wide receiver who enrolled at Marshall in January but is not academically eligible to participate in spring practice, was arrested last week on two felony charges of fraudulent use of an access device.

According to the criminal complaints on the April 10 charges, Jean-Louis is accused of stealing a wallet and cellphone from a victim who was playing basketball at the university's recreation center on April 3. He also is accused of using the victim's phone to place an order at the 5th Avenue Pizza Hut for $40.87 and paying for it with the victim's credit card. Jean-Louis also is accused of making two purchases at a 7-Eleven totaling $25.82 on April 3, using a stolen credit card.

The Marshall University athletic department released a statement Tuesday afternoon: "We are continuing to monitor his ongoing situation and, again, will handle it appropriately and internally."
