Prep baseball roundup: Pauley sparks SC past Huntington

Huntington plated four early runs off of South Charleston sophomore starter Jonathan Pauley before the right-hander settled down to finish the game with four shutout innings in pitching the Black Eagles to a 13-4 win in high school baseball action Tuesday evening.

Pauley (5-2) allowed six hits and struck out three in seven innings, while going 2-for-4 with an RBI at the plate.

Seniors Jerod Jobst and Jonathan Cline had two hits apiece for South Charleston (12-8). Jobst and Zach Wright also added two RBI apiece.

For Huntington (16-7), Stephen Holland pounded out three hits, including a double and two RBI, while Kris Van Camp had an RBI.

Hurricane 9, Parkersburg 4 - Riley Metz pitched six solid innings and hit a two-run homer in the first inning to help propel the Redskins (18-3) over the Big Reds (9-10) in Parkersburg.

J.T. Rogoszewski had a double to extend his hitting streak to eight games, while knocking in a pair of runs. Alex Estep was 2-for-3 with an RBI and Max Maxson and Austin Hensley added RBI for the visitors.

Anthony Kist had a double and two RBI, Logan Dudley contributed two hits and Damon Rebeiro had two hits and an RBI for Parkersburg.

Capital 9, Lincoln County 1 - Jacob Williams (1-3) picked up his first win of the season with a five-hit complete game.

Williams also had three hits for the Cougars (11-13), while Anthony Gavin had two hits and two RBI. Kaleb Kinder and Seth Roadcap also had two hits apiece for Capital.

For Lincoln County, Aaron Taylor had two hits, followed by Brynnan Sakourey added a double.

Herbert Hoover 14, Ripley 2 - The Huskies plated 10 runs in the third inning en route to the easy five-inning home win.

Cody Bowen (4-0) went the distance for the Huskies (19-1), allowing just two hits along the way.

Shaun Dotson had two hits for Hoover, including a homer and four RBI, while Bowen added three RBI. Corey Bird and Hunter White contributed two hits and an RBI apiece for the Huskies.

Charleston Catholic 8, Point Pleasant 3 - Connor Golden was 2-for-3, driving in five runs as the Irish earned the home win.

Rocco Wilcox, Kiefer Hovorka each doubled for Catholic (13-8), while Andy Hoyer (4-1) earned the win.

For Point Pleasant, Alex Somerville, Evan Potter and Levi Russell each doubled, while Jacob Gardner was 2-for-3 with two RBI.

Poca 20-19, Tolsia 1-0 - Matt Chandler, Brett Watts, Cam Cottrill and Donte Barnette combined for a five-inning perfect game in the nightcap of a Dots doubleheader sweep of the Rebels (0-20).

Catcher Evan McClanahan was 4-for-6 with five RBI in the two games for Poca (16-6).

Geprge Washington 10, Sissonville 0 - Clayton Anderson went 3-for-4 with 3 RBI and Connor Moffatt and Austin Griffith knocked in two runs apiece to lead the Patriots (14-9) over the Indians (7-17) at Floyd B. Wilcox Field.

Moffatt picked up the complete-game victory in six innings, surrendering only three singles.

Grant Wooten also had a pair of hits for the Patriots.
