Prep baseball: Cabell Midland wins MSAC title

HURRICANE, W.Va. -- Hurricane saw its eight-game winning streak come to an end in the Mountain State Athletic Conference baseball tournament championship on Tuesday night.

Cabell Midland scored four runs in the fifth inning to erase a two-run deficit in a 4-2 victory over the Redskins (21-4).

The loss also ended Hurricane's MSAC championship streak at two.

The Redskins scored the game's first two runs on Cabell Midland pitcher Derek Adkins.

However, Adkins settled down and Cabell Midland ace Seth Kinker pitched the last two innings to close it out.

"Derek threw the ball real well and he kept the ball down," Cabell Midland Coach Tracy Brumfield said. "That's something to only give up two hits to this team right here (Hurricane)."

Kinker had two hits and two RBI for Cabell Midland while freshman Cole Tilley knocked in the other two runs for the Knights (16-10).
