HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – Seven Marshall football games have been scheduled for television and five game times have been set with Conference USA's release Tuesday of its composite TV schedule.
The Thundering Herd's season opener at Joan C. Edwards Stadium versus Miami (Ohio) will kick off at 7 p.m. Aug. 31 on CBS Sports Network. That network will broadcast three Marshall games in 2013, with Fox Sports Network broadcasting another three and Comcast Sports South broadcasting one.
The Herd's game at Middle Tennessee is the next scheduled TV game, at 7 p.m. on Oct. 24 on FSN. CBS Sports will show Marshall's Nov. 2 home game versus Southern Mississippi at 12:30 p.m. and CSS will show its Nov. 9 game against the University of Alabama at Birmingham at a time to be announced later.
FSN will show the Herd's Nov. 14 game at Tulsa at 7:30 p.m. and its Nov. 23 game at Florida International at a time to be announced later. Marshall's regular-season finale versus East Carolina will be shown at noon on Nov. 29 on CBS Sports.
Additional C-USA TV opportunities are possible and games will be released as soon as they are finalized.
The Herd finished the 2012 season at 5-7, while quarterback Rakeem Cato was named C-USA MVP and running back Kevin Grooms was named the conference's freshman of the year.
