Marshall basketball: Judge says Herd's Pittman tested positive for marijuana
A Cabell County Circuit Court judge revealed Thursday that Marshall men's basketball player Elijah Pittman had tested positive for marijuana in a court-mandated drug screening, according to published reports.
Cabell Circuit Judge Al Ferguson mentioned the positive test during a pre-trial hearing on Pittman's misdemeanor battery charge. Pittman was indicted in July on the charge, accused of knocking unconscious a man who tried to break up an October 2012 fight between Pittman and his girlfriend. Pittman told police the victim was the aggressor, while the victim said Pittman him when he tried to stop the fight.
Pittman, a 6-foot-9 forward from Covington, Ky., is the lone returning starter on the Marshall basketball team and last season's leading scorer, averaging 16.1 points per game.
