Prep soccer roundup: GW blanks Ripley

George Washington scored goals in each half to remain unbeaten with a 2-0 win over Ripley in boys high school soccer action Tuesday.

Drew Davis and Jeff Hodge scored the goals for GW (11-0-0), while Peter Nelson added an assist. Ripley fell to 5-6-2.

Cross Lanes Christian 5, Sissonville 2 - Kyle Davis scored a pair of goals and assisted two others in leading the host Warriors (10-2-0).

Ben O'Dell, Tyler Corin and Brent Prudich added single goals for Cross Lanes.

For Sissonville (9-2-2), Andy Minsker and Dougie Harding scored goals.

Huntington 3, Nitro 2 - Max Simpson, Constantine Svingos and Riley Imlay each netted goals in the second half as the Highlanders (6-3-2) won in the road.

Daichai Usagaida added an assist on the Imlay goal.

J.P. Mawyer and Chase Kirk scored goals for Nitro (2-8) in each half.

In girls soccer play:

Parkersburg 3, Capital 0 - The Big Reds improved to 7-4-1 with win at Capital (5-9-1).

Lauren Rinehart, Rylee Boggess and Quinci Taylor had goals for Parkersburg.

George Washington 10, Ripley 0 - The Patriots jumped to a 7-0 halftime lead and cruised at home.

Kasey Rhodes and Sarah Bodnar had two goals apiece to lead GW (10-2-1). Hannah Ellis and Gracie Switzer each added a goal and an assist.

Poca 10, Mingo Central 0 - Jordan Smith netted a pair of goals as the Dots (4-8-1) cruised at home.

Harley Hutchins, Brooklyn Elkins, Bre Herdman, Katilyn Scurlock, Michaela Young, Mariah Cook, Brooke Godish and Sami Shamblin had goals for Poca.

Cross Lanes Christian 5, Lincoln County 1 - Kathryn Legg scored two unassisted goals in the first half as the Warriors (10-0) won at Lincoln County.
