Prep girls soccer roundup: Capital takes 5-0 lead toward victory

CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- Capital scored the first five goals of the game in earning a comfortable 5-1 victory at Ripley in girls high school soccer action Thursday.

Ally Reeves had a big night for the Cougars (6-9-1), scoring the first two goals of the game, and adding an assist.

Josie Barnhart, Hannah Moore, and Amy Glasow also scored for the Cougars.

Winfield 5, Nitro 1 - The Generals remained unbeaten on the season at 14-0-0, dispatching of the Wildcats on the road.

Jordan Pauley had two goals for Winfield while Mary Lawman, Josee Erlandson, and M.E. Zulauf also scored. For Nitro (2-7-1), Autumn Griggs scored the lone goal.

Hurricane 5, St. Albans 0 - Audrey Barber scored a hat trick of goals and Kayla McKnight added a hat trick of assists as Hurricane cruised on the road.  

Josie Kroeger and Abby Watson also scored for the Redskins. St. Albans keepers had 4 stops - two each for Maddie Marshall and Abby Vaughn in the loss.

George Washington 5, Beckley 0 - Kasey Rhodes scored four goals and Olivia Miller completed her 10th shutout as George Washington breezed past Woodrow Wilson on the road.  

Hannah Ellis also scored for the Patriots.

Charleston 6 Catholic, Pikeview 0 - Caroline Dundervill's hat trick helped the Irish win on the road.  Peyton Keener added another two goals and Jada Bohn scored one to bring the total to six for Catholic.
