CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- The WVU Tech women's soccer team upset No. 7 seed Paul Smith's College, 2-0, Wednesday in the 2013 USCAA National Soccer Tournament. No. 10 seed WVU Tech scored a goal in each half.
Junior forward Creshana Jones struck first for Tech in the 39th minute. Freshman forward Catie Crumb found Jones down field and delivered the perfect ball to her to mark Crumb's first collegiate assist.
Neither team was able to convert on shots for the next 30 minutes until freshman defender Alex Blumer came out of the back field to score. Blumer knocked the ball past Paul Smith's goalkeeper Asenath Brooks in an unassisted goal at 68:12. The freshman took the score to it's final, 2-0.
Defense for the Golden Bears held the Bobcats to just four shots, one on goal.
The Golden Bears will face the No. 2 seed Daemen College today at Schoenbaum Stadium. Kickoff is set for 5:15 p.m.
