CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- Former Marshall backup quarterback Blake Frohnapfel will join the University of Massachusetts football team this fall. Frohnapfel announced the move on Twitter on Tuesday.
On Jan. 17, Frohnapfel tweeted a good-bye to Marshall fans, announcing his intent to transfer. He will graduate from Marshall this spring and have two years of eligibility remaining. He is the only quarterback other than Rakeem Cato to take a snap for Marshall in the last two seasons.
In 2013, Frohnapfel completed 17 of 22 passes for 206 yards, three touchdowns and an interception. In 2012, he completed 18 of 23 passes for 180 yards, two touchdowns and an interception. The Minutemen, an Mid-American Conference team, finished last season at 1-11, their only win coming against Miami (Ohio). UMass quarterbacks threw for a total of 1,877 yards, nine touchdowns and 18 interceptions last season.
