HUNTINGTON, W.Va. -- Marshall University released its 2012-13 men's basketball schedule Tuesday afternoon.
The Thundering Herd's 31-game slate features previously announced games against Kentucky, West Virginia and Cincinnati, plus the addition of Big East member Villanova.
The Marshall-Villanova clash will take place Nov. 11 in Philadelphia as part of the 2K Sports Classic benefiting the Wounded Warrior Project. MU will play three more games as part of the exempt event at Hofstra on three consecutive days starting Nov. 16. The Herd will face the University of District of Columbia on Nov. 16, South Dakota State on Nov. 17 and host Hofstra to close out the event on Nov. 18.
Marshall will play at Kentucky on Dec. 22 and neutral-court games against West Virginia (Dec. 5) and Cincinnati (Dec. 15) at the Charleston Civic Center. The Herd will play 15 home games, 12 road games and four neutral-site games.
The Herd will scrimmage Bluefield College in an exhibition Oct. 29, and then open the season Nov. 9 by hosting Longwood at the Henderson Center in Huntington.
The Conference USA schedule begins Jan. 9 when Marshall hosts Tulsa.
