Holliday said last week that Taylor (back) would definitely be out for the UTSA game and the injury could keep him on the shelf for several weeks. Holliday said the bye week came at a fortunate time after Marshall's visit to Virginia Tech.
"That was a very physical game we played," Holliday said. "If we'd have played last Saturday, we'd probably have had four or five guys who would have missed it. But I think the opportunity with the open date, I think we'll be fine."

THE FOUR captains for the UTSA game all are repeat selections - cornerbacks Darryl Roberts and Monterius Lovett, running back Essray Taliaferro and center Chris Jasperse.
It marks the second time being named captain for Lovett, Roberts and Taliaferro and the third for Jasperse.
Ten different players have been a game captain in the first five games of the season, and Holliday likes how more of the roster has been able to assume that mantle.
"I like the leadership on this football team and the way they've hung together," he said.
"I like what we've done with the captains. I think it's helped us and I think it'll continue to help us as the season goes along."
