Geno Smith fans won't want to bobble this chance.
When the West Virginia Power takes on the Lexington Legends this Saturday, the first 1,000 fans though the gates of Appalachian Power Park will receive a free bobblehead doll featuring the likeness of the former West Virginia University quarterback.
The polyresin doll manufactured by promotions company Team Deastroyer will feature a caricature of Smith in a plain blue uniform preparing to throw a touchdown pass.
Smith led the Mountaineers during their record-setting Orange Bowl Victory against Clemson University in 2012 and during their inaugural 2012-2013 season as part of the Big 12 Conference,
He was recently drafted by the New York Jets in the second round of the 2013 NFL Draft.
Kristin Call, assistant marketing director for the Power, said Smith was contacted to make an appearance at the event but was unable to attend due to prior commitments.
Call said the promotion sponsored by local country station 96.1 The Wolf and the West Virginia National Guard is the Power's way of rewarding loyal fans.
"If you look at our fan base, we have a lot of WVU fans. In the stands, people are always wearing WVU shirts and hats," Call said. "WVU is such a part of our state. It's our way of giving back to what lives and breathes in the heart of the state."
