The WV Power is competing in a Minor League Baseball challenge, and the pepperoni roll is representing the state yet again.
In the "Local Legends" category, the Power is pitting its Vandy Roll -- a 1.5 pound pepperoni roll with a side of marinara sauce -- against other regional specialties at baseball parks across the country
The Minor League Baseball website reads: "The Power posed two questions: What is West Virginia best known for in the food world, and who's the most famous chef in the area? The result: Rocco Muriale has constructed the perfect pepperoni roll for the Power -- weighing in at 1.5 pounds, served with Rocco's own marinara sauce, and named after a close friend who loves pepperoni."
Round One runs until May 29, and the Final Round runs from May 30 to June 6. Voters will be entered into a sweepstakes for prizes, including the grand prize: "A trip for four to the ballpark of the winning food item, including airfare, hotel accommodations, game tickets, and of course, a food voucher so you can taste the winner!" First prize is four tickets to a 2013 Minor League Baseball game of choice. Second prize is a Minor League Baseball Prize Pack.To vote, visit http://www.milb.com/milb/fans/food_fight/y2013/index.jsp?category=legends&club=t525.
