Soccer roundup: Maurer scores pair of goals to lead St. Albans over Riverside
CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- Doyle Maurer scored a pair of goals and assisted on two others in leading unbeaten St. Albans to a 6-1 high school boys soccer victory over visiting Riverside on Thursday.
Riverside (1-4-0) started the scoring in the match's first five minutes on a goal by Cameron Norris before the Red Dragons (3-0-1) rallied.
Colton VanBibber also scored two goals for St. Albans, while Caleb Bone and Mike Mellinger added single goals. Bone had three Red Dragon assists.
Phillip Keeney collected an assist for the Warriors.
In other boys soccer Thursday:
Hurricane 8, Nitro 0 -Sophomores Alex White and Trevor Cunningham each scored a pair of goals to lead the Redskins (3-0-2) at home.
Braeden Collins, Wes McWatters, Trevor Starcher, and Matt Ebbert added goals for Hurricane.
Nitro dropped to 1-4-1 with the blanking.
Princeton 4, Capital 1 -Nick Branson and Mashi Johnson each had two goals to lead the host Tigers (2-1-1).
Nick Branson and Cory Fulknier had assists for Princeton.
For Capital (1-3-1), Ayman Lam scored the lone goal.

Gary made five saves for Sissonville (4-1-1), while Attu Kohlemaine added a pair of goals. Andrew Tidd made nine saves for Ravenswood.

Brittany McWatters and Chloe Barber had assists for Hurricane.
Sissonville 3, Pocahontas County 0 - In a battle of unbeatens, the Indians went on the road and earned an impressive victory.
Amber Jordan, Meagen Minsker, and Cassidy Lewis scored goals for Sissonville (4-0-0) and Jenna Curry recorded the shutout in goal. Pocahontas County fell to 4-1.
