CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- Like a lot of younger siblings, throughout most of their lives, Charlie Lucente and Caroline Dundervill has had to live under the shadow of their older sisters.
Charlie's sister, Lucky, was a standout soccer player at George Washington. Caroline's sister, Kathryn, was a three-sport star at Charleston Catholic.
Each graduated this year, leaving the younger sisters to establish their own legacies, something they continued on Tuesday.
The pair scored all five goals in the match-up between their state-ranked teams as Charlie Lucente's hat trick one-upped Caroline Dundervill's two goals as GW earned a 3-2 victory over Catholic at Schoenbaum Stadium inside Coonskin Park in front of about 250 fans.
Lucente's heroics, which included the equalizing goal with 17:37 remaining in the game and game-winner at the 14:07 mark, helped Class AAA No. 5 George Washington (7-1) edge Dundervill and Class AA/A No. 1 Catholic (5-1-1).
"It feels awesome," Lucente said. "It was just a huge adrenaline rush. I love it. Two of them were kind of lucky and I don't know how they went in, but they did. This is a big win for us. It's always good to beat Catholic."
Lucente has managed to embrace being in the shadow of her sister.
"Everyone knows Lucky," Lucente said. "It's a lot of shoes to fill. She was a great player. It wasn't hard growing up with her. I always supported her. I want to make a name for myself, too."
Lucky Lucente was the Class AAA Forward of the Year last season as a senior, netted a stellar 33 goals her junior season, and finished her career with more than 80 goals.
