High school soccer: Bumgarner scores pair of goals to lead South Charleston
CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- Justin Bumgarner netted a pair of goals to propel South Charleston to a 3-1 win over Riverside in boys high school soccer action Tuesday night.
Devyn Harris added a goal and assists for the Black Eagles (6-3), while Myles Gist Isaac Cosby chipped in with an assist.
For Riverside (2-6), Cole Goode netted a first-half goal.
Ravenswood 3, Herbert Hoover 0 - Andrew Ely scored two goals and Mason Carte added another to lead the Red Devils (8-2-1) past the Huskies (3-8-1).
Quinton Sells had an assist for Ravenswood.
George Washington 2, Nitro 0 - Peter Nelson and Drew Davis each netted a goal to lead the Patriots to victory at home.
Daniel Glines and Andrew Wells each served up assists, while Garret Phillips had one save for George Washington. Lee Clocke wrapped up 10 for the Wildcats.
In girls soccer action:
Hurricane 3, Spring Valley 0 - The Redskins (10-0-0) remained perfect with the shutout win at home.
Abby Watson and Britany Minor scored goals for Hurricane, while Taylor Morton and Allison Clay added assists.
Capital 2, Beckley 0 - Lauren Johnson and Katie Crowder had goals to lead the Cougars (6-5-0) on the road.
Becca DeMarco had an assist for Capital.
Poca 6, Scott 2 - Marissa Perkins and Harley Hutchins scored two goals apiece to lead the Dots (5-5).
Madi McGrew added a goal and assist for the Dots, while Mariah Cook contributed a single goal. Hutchins also assisted a goal for Poca.
For Scott, Kali Scott and Lindsey Cook added goals.
Herbert Hoover 4, Point Pleasant 0 - Amber Williams scored two goals to lead the Huskies (8-4-0) on the road.
Melody Strickland and Hannah Schoolcraft also scored goals for Hoover, while Schoolcraft had two assists.
