Boys soccer: White, Lee lift Wildcats; Catholic defeats Midland
CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- The Nitro seniors won for the first time over Beckley, earning a 1-0 victory on the road in boys high school soccer action Tuesday.
Alex White scored in the first half for the Wildcats (8-6), while Lee Klocke had 11 saves.
Casey Young made five saves for the Flying Eagles.
South Charleston 3, Oak Hill 2 - Three different players scored for the Black Eagles in the home win over the Red Devils (0-5-2).
Rashad Kincaid, Jonah Cosby and Kwesi Wilkerson all scored for South Charleston (8-3-1), while Hunter Moles made five saves.
Charleston Catholic 3, Cabell Midland 1 - Anthony Cipollone, Adam Fox and Joey Trupo all scored goals in leading the undefeated Irish (14-0-0) to the home win at Schoenbaum Stadium.
Shady Spring 3, Herbert Hoover 0 - Josh Buckland, Jonathan Sutphin and Dominick Bacho each netted a goal as the Tigers won on the road.
Jonathan Beckett had nine saves for Shady Spring and Brett Strickland had 11 saves for Hoover (3-10-1).
George Washington 3, Ripley 0 - Jeff Hodge, Caleb Barnette and Noah Miller all scored a goal to lead the Patriots to the home win.
Daniel Glines had an assist for GW (11-3-1), while Garret Phillips had three saves.
Chuck Sleboda had 11 saves for the Vikings (2-13).
Winfield 8, Russell (Ky.) 1 - Steven Taylor scored a hat trick for the Generals and Preston Sheldon added two goals in the home win.
Jacob Foster had three assists for Winfield (10-1-1).
Patrick Saucy scored for Russell (6-7).
Cross Lanes Christian 2, Sissonville 1 - Despite 19 saves from J.R. Stricklen, the Indians lost at home.
Austin Davis and Tyler Corbin had goals for Cross Lanes, while Anthony Rinehart scored for Sissonville.
