CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- Sissonville's Zach Null hurled a gem on Thursday night, scattering four hits against visiting Poca in a 6-2 victory in the Class AA Region 4, Section 2 baseball tournament.
The senior also had three hits, finishing with a double a home run and four RBI for the Dots (23-8), who return to Sissonville (12-20) at 6:30 p.m. today in the second game of the best-of-three sectional.
Dominic Walker, J.R. Stricklen and Houston Hill added two hits apiece for Sissonville (12-19).
Brett Watts had a run-scoring single for Poca.
Riverside 3, Capital 2 - Tyler Hall struck out seven with one walk and Cam Norris had a two-run single in the fifth inning to help the Warriors (10-15) eliminate Capital (13-19) from the Class AAA Region 3, Section 4 tournament at Quincy.
The tournament shifts to Jackson County, where the Warriors will face Ripley at 6:30 p.m. today. Since both teams are unbeaten, the tourney returns to Riverside on Saturday.
Kaleb Kinder and Anthony Gavin had RBI for the Cougars. Brandon Hancock had an RBI for the Warriors.
Hurricane 17, Lincoln County 0 - Sophomore right-hander J.T. Rogoszewski teamed with Trey Dawson to fire a five-inning no-hitter against the Panthers (9-11) in leading the Redskins to the Class AAA Region 4, Section 3 title Thursday.
Rogoszewski (6-1) struck out nine over four innings, before giving way to Dawson, who worked the fifth.
Tate Brock had three hits and five RBI for Hurricane (25-4), while Dawson added two doubles, a homer and two RBI. Dawson also scored five runs.
Riley Metz and Austin Hensley added three RBI apiece for the Redskins.
Herbert Hoover 8, Clay County 5 - The Huskies plated five runs in the third inning and held on the for the Class AA Region 4, Section 1 home win.
