CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- It took George Washington goalkeeper Garrett Phillips 11 games to get scored on, but Woodrow Wilson finally got to the senior on Thursday.
Despite the rare blemish, it didn't deter the No. 1 ranked Patriots from remaining unbeaten as GW (12-0-0) earned a 3-1 victory over Woodrow Wilson in boys high school soccer action.
Zach Johnson netted the first goal against the Patriots this season in the first half for Woodrow (6-4-3), but it didn't hold up as GW netted the final three goals to earn the win.
Peter Nelson and Drew Davis scored the first half goals for the Patriots and Daniel Glines added an insurance tally in the second half. Phillips made four saves. Woodrow keeper Josh Moore had six saves.
South Charleston 1, Cabell Midland 1 - The Black Eagles were able to score the equalizing goal in the second half to earn the tie on the road.
Chris Brown netted the goal for SC (7-4-2). Black Eagle goalkeeper Jacob Gordon made three saves.
Herbert Hoover 4, Lincoln County 1 - The Huskies scored three goals in the first half at home, and it was enough to earn their second win of the season.
Thomas Canterbury had two goals and an assist for the Huskies.
Winfield 5, Nitro 1 - Steven Taylor lit up the scoreboard with four goals as the Generals won easily at home.
Ronnie Beale added another goal for Winfield. Nathan Bailey scored the lone goal for Nitro in the loss.
Christian Legg and Chris Klocke combined for 11 saves for Nitro.
St. Albans 3, Hurricane 1 - St. Albans defeats Hurricane behind three goals from Jack Wiles. Hurricane falls to 6-5-1.
