CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- Maria Romeo made five 3-pointers and scored a game-high 22 points to lead George Washington to a 68-55 home win against Hurricane in high school girls basketball play Thursday.
The Patriots (3-5) jumped out to a 17-9 lead to end the first quarter and never looked back as Haley Stewart scored 19 points and Kelli Jo Harrison chipped in with 16 points, including four 3-pointers.
For Hurricane (7-4), junior Abby Watson finished with a team-high 19 points and Kaylee Wooten scored 15 in the loss.
Huntington 84, Riverside 40 - The third-ranked Highlanders (12-1) jumped to a 46-23 halftime lead and cruised to the easy road win.
Huntington's Jordyn Dawson paced a quintet of double-digit scorers with 17 points, while Dazha Congleton added 16 and Lexi Sheffield 13.
For Riverside (1-6), Brittany Wood netted a team-high 15 points.

Sissonville 54, Herbert Hoover 46 - Sissonville overcame a 21-points performance from Hoover's Matt Justice with a balanced attack led by Blake Newhouse's 17 points to get a win between Kanawha County Class AA rivals.
Spring Valley 75, St. Albans 65 - Jacob Kilgore scored 26 points while James Keyser and Greg Herbert each added 19 to lead the Timberwolves (5-3) to the road win over St. Albans (2-6).
