CANCUN, Mexico - Juwan Staten had 13 points, nine assists, four rebounds and three steals and West Virginia University advanced to the finals of the Cancun Challenge with a 78-60 victory over Old Dominion on Tuesday.
In their fourth consecutive victory, the Mountaineers (5-1) shot 56 percent from the floor with Eron Harris hitting 7-of-10 attempts and scoring a team-high 19 points.
Terry Henderson came off the bench with 14 points for WVU, which will play at 9:30 p.m. today against No. 10 Wisconsin (7-0), which defeated Saint Louis in the other semifinal.
Seven Mountaineers played at least 18 minutes with freshman starters Nathan Adrian - a former Morgantown High School star - and Devin Williams combining for 18 points. Williams had 10 rebounds for the Mountaineers.
Aaron Bacote's 20 points led all scorers for the Monarchs (4-2), who will play at 7 p.m. today against the loser of the St. Louis-Wisconsin matchup. Bacota also had nine rebounds for Old Dominion, which outrebounded West Virginia 35-28.
