CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- Former Parkersburg South star Asia Greenleaf put back a missed 3-pointer with 4.1 seconds left as the West Virginia State University women's basketball team rebounded from a six-point deficit with 49 seconds left to earn a Mountain East Conference season sweep of Fairmont State 63-62 at Fleming Hall on Thursday night.
Greenleaf finished with 21 points, 11 rebounds and five blocked shots for the Yellow Jackets (13-6, 10-4 MEC), who moved into sole possession of second place in the MEC after Urbana was upset by Wheeling Jesuit.
Fairmont attempted a baseball pass on the final inbounds play, but it was intercepted, ending the game.
Former Scott High School star and State Player of the Year Makenzie White led the way for the Falcons (9-7, 7-6) with 19 points, seven rebounds and four assists.
India Taste had 15 points and seven steals for State, while fellow guard Lexy Carson added 10 points.
State returns to action at 2 p.m. Saturday at Wheeling Jesuit.
