CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) - State flags at state facilities across West Virginia will be lowered in remembrance of the late former state Sen. Ralph Williams.
Acting Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin on Friday ordered flags to be lowered to half-staff on Saturday.
Williams died Monday. He was 82.
Williams served in the Senate from 1971 until 1986, representing the 11th District. During his tenure, the Democrat served as chairman of several committees, including Finance, Education and Banking and Insurance.
A funeral service is set for 2 p.m. Saturday at Sewell Valley Baptist Church in Rainelle.
