Sept. 03--The Virginia Destroyers have cut ties with Pat White.
The United Football League team, which is located in Virginia Beach, Va., confirmed White's release Friday afternoon.
The former WVU star quarterback signed with the team in late June, at which point he said his blood was "boiling" to get back on the field. He reported to camp earlier this month, and Bo White, Pat's father, said his son was "disappointed" by the team's decision.
"They just released him," Bo White said. "It really is a shame."
Destroyers spokesman David Seals said the team would have no comment on the decision to cut White, and messages to the former Mountaineer were not returned.
The Destroyers, who will likely start Chris Greisen at quarterback, must trim their roster to 53 players by next week. About 70 were invited to attend camp.
