IDs of 2 killed in I-81 accident in W.Va. released
MARTINSBURG, W.Va. (AP) — West Virginia State Police have released the identities of two people killed in a multi-vehicle accident in whiteout conditions on Interstate 81.
State Police in Martinsburg identified the victims as 65-year-old Mitchell Duane Dobbins of Hagerstown, Md., and 73-year-old Rejeanne Bernier of Granby, Quebec.
Both were pronounced dead at the scene of Wednesday’s accident in the northbound lanes in the Falling Waters area.
Trooper M.D. Gillmore says 49 vehicles were involved, including 13 tractor-trailers. In addition to the two fatalities, several other people were taken to three different hospitals for treatment of injuries from the accident in the snowstorm.
