Chester I. McNeely

Chester Ira McNeely, 92, of Belle, went home to be with the Lord, Friday, April 4, 2014, at the home of his son and daughter-in-law, following a long illness.

Chester was born at Peck Mills on Jan. 27, 1922, to the late Leander Doran and Emma Virginia Parcell McNeely. He was retired from Elkem Metals with 35 years of service. He was an Army Veteran and a Pearl Harbor Survivor. He was a member of the Fair Haven Baptist Church, Campbells Creek, where he served as a Deacon and he also attended Rand Senior Citizens.

Along with his parents, Chester was preceded in death by his wife, Irene Harris McNeely; sister, Edna Mae Perry; brothers, Leotis and Otto McNeely; half-brothers, Jim and Gene Whitman.

Chester is survived by his son, Gene (Tonya) McNeely of Belle; granddaughters, Renea (James) Taylor of DuPont City, Leah Ann (Randy) Guthrie of Belle and Amanda (David) Fleming of Charleston; and great-granddaughter, Destiny McNeely of Belle.

Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Tuesday, April 8 at Stevens & Grass Funeral Home, Malden, with the Rev. Tim Martin officiating. Burial with Military Graveside Rites will be at Montgomery Memorial Park, London. A visitation with family and friends will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

The family would like to thank Joe Bailey with HospiceCare, his Home Health Nurse, Becca and his in-home nurse's aide, Ashley Casto, for their kindness & care given to Chester.
