By

FROM STAFF REPORTS

The West Virginia Division of Highways will conduct pothole patching and paving on eight area roads today.

Because of the work, temporary lane closures may be in effect.

In Kanawha County, the following projects are scheduled today:

Interstate 77 northbound and southbound between mile markers 117.5 to 119.5. The slow lane will be closed in each direction for patching from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Interstate 77 southbound between mile markers 125 and 130. Slow lane will be closed for patching from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

W.Va. 25 (Fairlawn Avenue) from Virginia Avenue in Dunbar to West Virginia State University. Alternating lane closures for patching from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

U.S. 60 eastbound, from Diamond to Quincy. Passing lane closed for patching from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Expect periodic delays.

W.Va. 61 westbound, from SportMart in Charleston to the 35th Street Bridge in Kanawha City. Alternating lane closures for milling and patching from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Expect periodic delays.

Davis Creek Road (C.R. 20), from Middle Fork to Clark Road. Alternating lane closures for patching from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Sissonville Drive (C.R. 21), from Casdorph Road to the Rich Station. Alternating lane closures for milling and patching from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

In Boone County, W.Va. 17 in the Powell Creek Road area will undergo alternating lane closures for paving from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

In Putnam County, Grandview Road (C.R. 21) will undergo alternating lane closures for patching from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

In Jackson County, Interstate 77 is being patched between the Fairplain and Kenna exits today.

The paving is part of a so-called “pothole blitz” that highways officials began earlier this year to repair state roads following the harsh winter weather in recent months. The Department of Transportation has diverted $12 million from other projects to help repair state roads this spring.
