Prep roundup: Oak Hill beats George Washington in softball

Oak Hill pounded out double-digit runs Monday to top host George Washington 19-9.

The Red Devils scored 12 runs in the top of the sixth to pull away from the Patriots. Hannah Johnson hit a home run, a double and drove in four runs while Hanna Powers went 3-for-4 with a double and two RBI for Oak Hill. Bailey Rabel went 4-4 with a home run, a double and two RBI for GW in the loss.

Poca 12, Clay County 0 — Jasmine Luikart pitched three innings, giving up one hit in Poca’s win at home. Casey Skeens went 2-for-2 with an RBI. Tori Ward also went 2-for-2 with a home run and 2RBI. Sarah Fisher added a double and four RBI for the Dots.

Huntington 2, South Charleston 0 — Morgan Kinder pitched seven innings, giving up zero runs on three hits as Huntington won on the road. Megan Keith went 1-for-3 with a single and two RBI for Huntington. Emily Bostic went 2-for-3 for the Black Eagles in the loss.

Hurricane 6, Ripley 1 — Addie Fullen hit a three-run home run to help lift the Redskins over the Vikings. Courtney Rogers surrendered only three hits in pitching the complete game, while also adding two RBI from plate. For Ripley, Dusti Fisher hit a double.

In baseball action:

South Harrison 7, Webster County 5 — Jacob Montgomery had a triple and drove in three runs as South Harrison won at home. Braeden Hurst added two doubles and two RBI. Tyler Miller had three doubles for Webster County in the loss.

Buffalo 14, Hannan 2 — Laythen Good went 2-for-4 with a triple and three RBI, while Nick Gunter added three more RBI, lifting the Bison over the Wildcats. Bo Whittington surrendered only two runs in pitching the complete game, striking out six. For Hannan, Jarad Lunsford and Tristan Johnson each drove in a run.

Hurricane 2, Hough (N.C.) 1 — Alexander Dunham hit a single in the eighth inning to drive home the game-winning run as Redskins topped the Huskies. Austin Hensley allowed two hits in pitching the complete game, striking out three on the way to the win. Austin Hensley went 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI for Hurricane.
