Prep roundup: Martinsburg beats S.C. at Mingo Bay baseball tourney

Martinsburg defeated South Charleston 4-1 at the Mingo Bay Classic in Myrtle Beach, S.C. Johnathan Pauley gave up four runs on seven hits striking out three. Antonio Brown went 1-for-3 with an RBI. South Charleston falls to 6-6.

Scott 5, Brighton (N.Y.) 4 — Scott defeated Brighton (N.Y.) 5-4. Despite a seventh inning rally to pull within one run, the Skyhawks held on to win over the Barons. For Scott, Alex Miller doubled and drove in a run, while Andrew Prince added another. Ryan Lawrence went two-for-three with a double for Brighton in the loss.

Aynor (S.C.) 3, South Charleston 1 — Aynor defeated the Black Eagles 3-1 in South Carolina. Antonio Brown went 1-for-3 with an RBI. Jacob Marker pitched four innings giving up three runs on five hits.

Hurricane 2, Hopewell (N.C.) 0 — J.T Rogoszewski pitched seven innings giving up no runs and one hit as Hurricane won at the Charlotte Invitational. Rogoszewski provided the 2RBI as well in the first and fifth innings to put Hurricane up for good.

East Chester (N.Y.) 6, Sissonville 2 — East Chester defeated Sissonville 6-2 in the Charlotte Invitational. Josh Landiswent 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI for the Indians in the loss. Jacob Fisher added a triple. Austin Casto pitched six innings giving up six runs on six hits. Sissonville falls to 9-6.

Herbert Hoover 3, Wayne 1 — Tristan Fields struck out 11 to lead the Huskies over the Pioneers. Shaun Dotson went two-for-three with two RBI and Luke Bowman went two-for-three with one RBI for Hoover. Dakota McCloud drove in the lone run for Wayne in the loss.

In softball:

Lincoln County 12, Winfield 0 — Brooke West threw three scoreless innings, homered, and drove in four runs as the Panthers shut out the Generals. Brandi Isaacs went three-for-three and added three RBI for Lincoln County. For Winfield, Maggie Rumbaugh went two-for-two.

Riverside 3, Sherman 2 — Amanda Cooper pitched seven innings for Riverside giving up two runs on eight hits in the win at home. Cassady Schmidt went 2-for-3 with a double for the Warriors. Bailey Harliss went 2-for-4 for Sherman in the loss. Riverside improves to 6-8.
