WVU baseball: Mountaineers play final non-conference game on Tuesday

MORGANTOWN — The West Virginia University baseball team will travel to Maryland for Tuesday’s final non-conference game of the season at Bob “Turtle” Smith Stadium. First pitch is set for 2 p.m.

WVU (27-20) is looking to get back into the win column after getting swept at Kansas last weekend. Junior second baseman Billy Fleming leads WVU with a .373 batting average, seven doubles, one triple, one home run and 27 RBIs. Fleming had the second cycle in WVU history last Sunday at Kansas.

Senior right-hander and former Wheeling Park standout Corey Walter (1-4) will get the start after picking up a no-decision against Virginia Tech last Tuesday. Walter has struck out 17 in34.2 innings with a 4.41 ERA.

Maryland (33-19, 15-14 ACC) has won eight in a row, including a weekend sweep of Pitt.
