Cold Spot restaurant burns down; people asked to avoid area

DUNBAR POLICE DEPARTMENT Crews blocked the road in Dunbar and asked people to avoid the area.

Firefighters who responded to a blaze at the popular Cold Spot pub in Dunbar say the building is a total loss.

The building was being demolished about 8 a.m.

The fire started about 3:30 a.m. Dunbar, South Charleston and Charleston firefighters responded to the blaze.

Kanawha County emergency services released a statement asking people to avoid the area:

“At the request of Dunbar Police all traffic please avoid the area of the Cold Spot Restaurant at the three way intersection of Dunbar Ave, Washington St W, and 7th Ave coming out of Charleston. This is due to the early morning structure fire.”

The Cold Spot was known for its tasty wings and friendly neighborhood atmosphere.

The cause of the fire was still under investigation Saturday morning.
