A fundraiser will be held for Jeff Lilly, of Alum Creek, who is battling leukemia and in need of a bone marrow transplant.
The event is set for noon to 5 p.m. Saturday at Alum Creek Elementary. There will be food, including desserts. There will also be games and prizes for kids. Area businesses have donated items for a raffle such as flat-screen televisions, hunting and fishing equipment, tool sets, baskets, sports gear, and tickets to movies and ball games.
Jeff Lilly, 42, lives in Alum Creek with wife, Cody, and is the father of one son who is 19.
He has worked as a mechanic at Runyan's Sunoco in Alum Creek since he was 18, said his sister, Sarah Davis. However, he has been unable to work for a couple of months and recently spent 30 days in a hospital, she said.
She said her brother is traveling to Ruby Memorial in Morgantown intermittently for further testing in preparation for a bone marrow transplant.
While insurance will cover medical costs, additional funds will be needed to help the family with travel and lodging expenses as well as bills such as utilities and other miscellaneous costs, Davis said. For more information about the upcoming fundraiser, contact Sarah Davis at 304-344-8416.
