A sanitation commission is encouraging schools and students to participate in a poster competition aimed at creating awareness for cleaning up rivers.
The Ohio River Valley Water Sanitation Commission is organizing the 24th annual River Sweep in June 2013, and wants schools and students to create poster to promote the event.
The student who designs the winning poster will receive $500, as will that student's school. There will also be 13 prizes of $50 given to one winner per grade level.
River Sweep is a project to raise awareness about water quality issues. Posters should reflect this goal as well as the problems with illegal littering and dumping, the release states.Dec. 14 is the deadline for submitting poster ideas.
