Planning for Tomblins' many large, small holiday parties a yearlong process
More than 100 artists from around the state contributed ornaments to the tree that stands in the grand foyer of the Governor's Mansion. The ornaments were an idea of first lady Joanne Tomblin and a fitting greeting, she believes, to the thousands of guests who visit the mansion during the holidays.
Ornaments submitted by artists around the state will become part of the state collection, to be used for many holidays to come.
This tree, tucked in a corner of the mansion's sunroom, is one of several that decorates the mansion during the holiday season.
The main living room is the first lady's favorite. Staffer Glen Reed capitalized on the room's green color scheme by using lots roses in brilliant hues.
Mansion staffer Glen Reed is the creative mind behind the mansion decorations and she selected a Santa theme for the butternut-paneled library of the mansion.
