Residents unite to revamp pool ahead of summer
John Bupp, board president for Windermere Pool, said the community is pulling together to replace the aging structure. Bupp, a Charleston attorney, grew up near the pool and was a lifeguard there for several years.
This shot was taken during the summer of 2012 at Windermere Pool. The pool serves as a good spot for fitness, leisure, and visiting with neighbors.
The pool was built in the mid-1950s from steel that over time has thinned and corroded. A steel bar was placed as a brace on a side of the pool that is bowing.
Plans are in the works to replace the current pool with a new one as shown in this drawing. Overall needed repairs are estimated at $240,000 while a new pool would cost about $300,000.
