Jean Brown, 89, of Cincinnati, a member of the Transatlantic Brides and Parents Association, says she met her husband as he was guarding the railroad in Essex. She married him in 1945 and came to the United States in 1946. Members say they enjoy getting together to share stories and enjoy British foods and teas.
Homemade Scottish shortbread was brought in this tin to a meeting of the Transatlantic Brides and Parents Association, held over the weekend in Cross Lanes. The local branch of the association includes members from West Virginia, Kentucky and Ohio.
