CHARLESTON, W.Va. - The Daily Cup has a new home for serving specialty coffees and goodies ranging from peanut butter pie to Cuban sandwiches.
The business recently moved from 246 Seventh Ave. in South Charleston to 700 Virginia St. E. in downtown Charleston.
For a couple of weeks during the moving process, it operated in both locations. The transition was completed last week.
Owners Denise and Ken Parks brought along their ability to make customers feel relaxed.
"It's a homey feeling," Denise said of the coffee shop. "I love to talk to people."
When their lease expired in South Charleston, it seemed like a good time to move to downtown Charleston in a spot once occupied by Bistro Express.
They believed it would be a good location for attracting foot traffic from downtown workers. They don't believe competition with other area coffee shops is an issue because products differ along with the tastes of customers.
"Our coffee comes from a private roaster in New Jersey," Ken said. "It's out of Central and South America. We brought our espresso from South Florida."
Maw Maw's Coffee and Cafe con Leche are popular draws, he said.
"The lattes are to die for," Ken said. "They go down like butter."
