Thomas said his call to the ministry was something he grew into as he continued to study scripture. "It wasn't like an epiphany."
"I've been a pastor for 13 years," said Thomas, 55. "I have never been to seminary school. I was tested on Bible knowledge to become ordained."
Thomas and his wife, Jessica, a registered nurse, have four grown children and one grandchild.
He believes his experiences while growing up as well as studying scripture led him to believe in the importance of an intact family.
"I believe that God has ordained the family to be the basic building block of society," he said.
Scripture is peppered throughout his 165-page book with the first part entitled "The Process of Developing Spiritual Character" and the second called "The Characteristics of a Godly Man."
The paperback book, priced at $12.99, is available through Tate Publishing, Amazon, Barnes & Noble and Pilgrim's Progress in South Charleston.
